OHIO- Kenneth and Helen Felumlee, who were married for 70 years, died only 15 hours apart from each other on April 12th and 13th.
The couple eloped on February 20th 1944 in Newport, KY just across from the Ohio River. They were so much in love that they had to get married in Kentucky because Kenneth (Kenny) was too young to marry at the time. His son Jim Felumlee told ABC that "He couldn't wait.” Kenny worked as a railroad car inspector before he became a mail carrier and was very involved in the local church. Helen was a stay at home mom, and often cooked and cleaned for other families in the community. She would also send cards to everyone in the community for birthdays, holidays and just about anything.
Helen passed away at night on April 12th surrounded by family. “According to Cody [one of the children], about 12 hours after Helen died, Kenneth looked at his children and said, "Mom's dead." He quickly began to fade and was surrounded by 24 of his closest family members and friends when he died the next morning.” Even though both Helen and Kenneth’s health were declining, they both died of old age. They were trying to be there for each other and neither of them wanted to leave the other. Thats true love.
